This session will focus on the importance of effective communication in obtaining a comprehensive patient history that will direct the Chiropractor to confidently establish an initial differential diagnosis and explore sociodemographic factors that may impact the management of the patient. Information obtained during the patient encounter combined with appropriate physical examination procedures, including necessary orthopedic, neurologic, and special study assessments, will ensure an accurate diagnosis, determine the most effective individual treatment plan, and establish a rewarding doctor-patient relationship.

This chiropractic technique seminar provides the rationale for two less-commonly presented methods for treating the low back: the use of padded wedges, as developed by Sacro-Occipital Technique, and drop-table procedures, as developed by Thompson Technique. Although inspired by the founders, DeJarnette and Thompson, this seminar updates these procedures in accordance with contemporary developments in chiropractic technique. The main resource to learn how to treat a pregnant woman for chiropractors is the Webster Technique through the ICPA. This program will review the science and application of cupping and floss therapy as they pertain to common musculoskeletal complaints.
